I just realized that I have been very lazy and haven't posted any sort of an update in FOREVER. Work was super duper busy the past couple of weeks, and I'm heading to NH this coming weekend through Monday to catch up with the family. I'm hoping I'll have the time to drive to Vermont on Saturday or Sunday to pay my brother a visit at college. Not much else exciting going on here - my hair is getting all long and shaggy because I've been too lazy to get it cut and I got a new pair of glasses that I'm liking muchly.

“The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life.”

Does anyone ever take the time to watch any of the reality shows that VH1 produces? Take Rock of Love Bus for example. The premise of this show is that they load a bunch of girls into two tour busses and they follow Brett Michaels (of Poison fame) around on tour while engaging in various challenges. Each episode one or more girls is elimiated. The girl that wins the show gets to "be Brett's girlfriend." These chicks are, for the most part, surgically enhanced and ho-tastical. Also, Brett Michaels may have money and have been a major rockstar in his heyday, but I think he's pretty skeezy looking. All in all its pretty messed up and yet I CAN'T STOP WATCHING! Maybe I'm going brain dead since I've been away from school for so long.

Anyways, happy new year to all! I hope 2009 is good to you.

"Happiness is always a by-product. It is probably a matter of temperament, and for anything I know it may be glandular. But it is not something that can be demanded from life, and if you are not happy you had better stop worrying about it and see what treasures you can pluck from your own brand of unhappiness."

I headed to New Hampshire for the holidays. I enjoyed the rest and relaxation and it was nice to be able to spend some time with the family and a couple of friends. I also ate a lot of bad but so good food.

My friends Joe, Melissa, and I continued a tradition started last year of driving around looking at Christmas lights. Most notably we stopped to see Mitchell's Magic Christmas. Every year this guy puts up a bunch of lights and programs them to music. He actually has the music broadcast to a radio station so all you have to do when you pull up in your car to check it out is to tune in!

Christmas day was good. My brother and I both received Wiis, and a few games. We spent much of the wee morning hours playing Mario Kart. I even got my dad playing and I'm pretty sure he's hooked now. From my parents I also received some clothes, coffee and tea cups for my brewer, and a ton of bath supplies (one of my weaknesses). I got an Indian cook book from my brother and the R4DS (which I still haven't gotten working properly, help!) from my roomie.

So now I'm back in New York and awaiting the new year. I don't have any major plans this year - I really don't think you could pay me to brave the Times Square crowds. Having Thursday off will be nice.

I'm thinking about moving my blog to another site. I'm unimpressed by the ads that you see when you're not logged in.
